We are living in a time and space, where our lives are fast-paced. Technology with its immense benefits has also made us dependent on gadgets. The daily routine is mechanically driven by our daily activities. The sedentary lifestyle has paved the way for health-related issues caused due to stress. The word ”Stress“  has acquired a new significance in the current decade. Several stress-related illnesses have emerged affecting us at the physical, emotional, and social levels.   The impact of stress is always on the mind that reflects on our bodies. The factors triggering health issues in the body originates from our restless and stressful mind. The mind is working at a fast pace trying to cope with personal, professional, and social commitments. We keep pushing our bodies to perform and achieve in all spheres, which has impacted our lifestyles. However, with improvements and comforts in all aspects of our life, the quality of health has deteriorated in the current generation. This has caused an imbalance in our health and lives. The essence of Ayurveda and Yoga is to keep wellness and balanced health.

Ayurveda

Ayurveda consists of two words,   Ayur meaning life, and Veda meaning science or knowledge. The knowledge of life is Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a subsect of Atharva Veda. According to Ayurveda,  an imbalance in the body causes illness.  The balance of the body is determined by understanding our body constitution. Our body is comprised of three vital energies or Doshas. These energies are classified as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The body signals illness when there is an imbalance in any of these vital energies. Ayurveda, with the help of herbs, understands and rectifies this imbalance in the body. This is done by changing our eating habits, improving our lifestyle, and exercise.   The purpose of  Ayurveda is to eventually evolve a person to lead a healthy and balanced life.

Yoga

Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” meaning to bind, connect, and focus our attention.  The binding and connecting of our mind and body to a singular purpose is Yoga.   Yoga disciplines our mind and body, which enables us to view life evenly in all situations. It is a state where the mind and body are in harmony with each other.

Vedic Connection – Ayurveda and Yoga

Ayurveda and Yoga are Vedic Sciences for the good health of the body and mind. They are distinct practices, yet related to each other. Ayurveda is a healing science through medicines and herbs for good health. Yoga practice enables the body and mind to focus on a singular task. The balance of body and mind helps one to evolve spiritually. This is done with breathing techniques and asanas.
